Hello, master f2p smither here!!
My smithing level is 75, and impressive figure in f2p, here is what i have done!
A quest in f2p called the knights sword will grant a smithing level of 1-29 in xp, this is an amazingly good boost, DO IT before you start your smithing life!!
SUPERHEATING/SMELTING:
Superheating is almost always a profitable way of smithing. The only problem is, it is very slow!
Smelting a bronze bar: 6.25xp, Not profitable
Smelting a Iron bar: 12.5xp, Barley profitable
Smelting a steel bar: 17.5xp, Mostly profitable
Smelting a gold bar:22.5xp, Never profitable
Smelting a Mithril bar: 30xp, mostly profitable
Smelting a Adamant bar: 37.5xp, mostly profitable
Smelting a runite bar: 50xp, Sometimes profitable
This is the "cheap way" to train smithing, it would take months of just doing this to get 99 smithing...
Another way is the best in my opinion to get xp in f2p for smithing!
ARTISAN WORKSHOP:
I am amazed by how this is f2p at all! There is no profit in this at all, what you smelt and smithing is worthless! I suggest only using Iron (I) when using this method:
Here you can put ores into a furnace and collect them as ingots used to create armor for the dwarfs, once the ore is turned into ingots it can not be restored as ore and cannot be sold. Smithing an Iron (I) ingot provides with over 100xp per bar! One ore creates one bar, every time!!!
After iron(I) Buying ore and smithing it into real armor is cheaper! Either way this is highly efficient, there are rewards for doing this as well, i would suggest reading a guide on this, (i can go on forever about this place)!
If there is anything more you want to know, talk to me (smithing real armor from bought ore is never profitable!)
