Smithing is considered an expencive skill. here's a cheap way to train it.
    1) Buy copper and tin from the Grand Exchange (mine it if you want mining xp, Drawen Resource Dungeon) and smelt them into bars in Al-Kharid Smelting furnace. Do this until level 30.

    2) Buy alot of iron from the Grand Exchange (mine it for xp, Outside Dwarwen Resource Dungeon) and head off to the 'Artisans Workshop'. There store all your iron in the furnace and withdraw 27 iron ingots. Follow the instructions made by the Dwarf for extra xp. Its, as i remember, 125xp per ore!!!

I am now at level 68 Smithing.

    Hello, master f2p smither here!!
My smithing level is 75, and impressive figure in f2p, here is what i have done!

A quest in f2p called the knights sword will grant a smithing level of 1-29 in xp, this is an amazingly good boost, DO IT before you start your smithing life!!

    SUPERHEATING/SMELTING:
Superheating is almost always a profitable way of smithing. The only problem is, it is very slow!
Smelting a bronze bar: 6.25xp, Not profitable
Smelting a Iron bar: 12.5xp, Barley profitable
Smelting a steel bar: 17.5xp, Mostly profitable
Smelting a gold bar:22.5xp, Never profitable
Smelting a Mithril bar: 30xp, mostly profitable
Smelting a Adamant bar: 37.5xp, mostly profitable
Smelting a runite bar: 50xp, Sometimes profitable
This is the "cheap way" to train smithing, it would take months of just doing this to get 99 smithing...

Another way is the best in my opinion to get xp in f2p for smithing!
    ARTISAN WORKSHOP:
I am amazed by how this is f2p at all! There is no profit in this at all, what you smelt and smithing is worthless! I suggest only using Iron (I) when using this method:
Here you can put ores into a furnace and collect them as ingots used to create armor for the dwarfs, once the ore is turned into ingots it can not be restored as ore and cannot be sold. Smithing an Iron (I) ingot provides with over 100xp per bar! One ore creates one bar, every time!!!
After iron(I) Buying ore and smithing it into real armor is cheaper! Either way this is highly efficient, there are rewards for doing this as well, i would suggest reading a guide on this, (i can go on forever about this place)!

If there is anything more you want to know, talk to me (smithing real armor from bought ore is never profitable!)

if you get into the mining guild there is another dungeon, if contains 3 runite ore, 4 adamant ore and 8 mithril ore. It requires 45 dun to get into... But if you have 85mining, its worth it!

yes, but acknowledge that there are only 5 runite ore per world in f2p, so the ones out of the wildy are highly populated... I would suggest mining in wildy if you want to risk it... Smile

Also, you can superheat the bars if you don't want to move. I think it still gives profit, just not as much, but it also trains mage

You have to gain respect which is really hard. You don't gain any respect from making dwarwen armour but by killing the ancestors you gain respect. For F2Ps with respect you can buy 'More xp for making armour' and 'more xp when fixing gbroken pipes'. The ancestors are level 58 and sometimes level 68 maximum and when you kill them you get the message 'for putting this ancestor to rest, you gain some respect'.

I don't get any respect from smithing armours but from fixing pipes yes there is respect awarded. You get extra xp if you smith the armour that is asked for.
