Range - Pking guide ! Cb lvl 40 & above :) (F2P)

Hello guys.
Well, if you ever go into wildy, you'll see that like half of the pkers are rangers.
To be a successful ranger and get lots of drops, i recommend you to have these stats.
Ranged level -> 60 & above! ( To have better ranged hits)
Attack level -> 40 & above! ( To wield a rune 2h)
Strength level -> 50 & above! ( To make your ranged hits hit abit higher)
Defence level -> 40 & above! ( To be able to wear the green dragonhide set )
Constituition level -> 40 & above

Things to have in your bag/quiver/or the things your gonna equip
A rune 2h ( this is because when your opponent has very low hp like say about 100 plus, wield your rune 2h and hit him. Successful hits can hit up to 100 plus depending on your strength level. This is not sucessful all the time. This is why a high str level would be good.
Arrows( say about 200-300) -> I recommend mithril or addy as the arrows you wield affect your ranged hits.
One bow -> I recommend a mapleshortbow
2 strength potions -> To boost your strength
A full green dragonhide set -> It boosts your range by abit and also for your defence
A strength ammy , defence ammy or accuracy ammy -> It boosts your strength, def or accuracy. I highly recommend you to wield the accuracy ammy. It boosts your range accuracy.
Food -> Depends on your cb and hitpoints level. Cb 40-50 ( tuna) Cb 60 and above ( Swordies or Anchovy Pizza! , i recommend swordies though, anchovy pizza are more expensive )

Attack style !
Bows - I recommend to fire your arrows in "rapid"
While using rune 2h- use "slash"

Herm after a bit of pking I would also recommend maybe getting your magic up high enough to do a bind so that you can catch those annoying hit and runners (really hate those guys)!!!

Your ranged level should be high if not it's no point.

Ok try not to get your def up from now on. Firstly try and get your strength up to maybe 70 or 80 now, without training anything else, and your prayer up to 31 for the strength bonus. Then you can start moving your def up if you feel like it.
There are loads of different types of melee pkers: Those with gravite weapons (highly recommended but takes time to level the dungeoneering up), just plain rune weapons and armor, rune berserker shield plus rune battleaxe (is basically the same as rune 2h in terms of str bonus but hits a lot quicker).
Might want to get your mage up high enough for binds, this should not increase your cb too much!
Do the reputation thing if this helped!

Good comment, only don't forget to train att too. I think that you should make att and str equal until about 40, then just start training stregnth. This is to allow you to hit more often and weild rune weapons

Also at around 70ish strength you should train your prayer up to 31 or 43 for protect. This will help you out for pking a lot

Actually you should start training prayer at 65 strength. Also people hate challenging people with armor on, so fighting in monk robes is almost necessary.

NO att and str should not be equal try and keep it a lot lower then str till around 70 str, then get it to 40! 10 att goes with like 20-25 str, 20 att with around 40 str, 30 att to 50str, around there.

Also, I got my def to 20 so I wouldn't have to eat so much, then i got more attack than str with a difference of 5 levels to keep it balanced, I agree with Boyrdy, 40 attack first then str all the way!

wait are you pking already or will you be pking later. If later I encourage the 40 attack thing first, it will make for faster leveling.

Yeah, it looks like you have a nice start Lurre. Defense is actually necessary for higher level pking, because people deal massive damage

I am not being contradictory, it all depends on when he will pk with Murial. If he goes immediately I recommended that he does not train the att to 40. However if he wants to get to a higher cb and then pk (better drops) I said he should get 40 att first that way he can level a lot quicker and reach the target cb faster. It is not contradictory at all seeing as they are two different cases. I apologize if this was unclear. Boyrdy I hope you understand this now.

Yeah Range Tank do own but I have found that they own more in members than in f2p because of the fact that no f2p bow can KO, they just have a steady stream of shots without the special attacks they have in members. It is for this reason that being a range 2h really helps f2p. 2hs KO!

There is not any real need for a pure guide because the whole point of a pure is that you only train one skill.


If you want a guide for leveling ranged, str and magic they should be in the guides.
